Peclers Paris: Trend Forecasting 2020

November 27, 2018 ·

Peclers Paris Trend Forecasting 2020 Presentation was held on November 27, 2018 at the Thompson Toronto and organized by FGI Toronto.  Fiona Atzler and Regan Timpson of Peclers Paris presented emerging trends for Spring 2020, which centered around femininity and ‘shades of strong’.  Pictured above are Peclers Paris’ beautiful and tactile fashion trend books issued each season.  The night of studying emerging trends and what they mean for marketing fashion informs updates to my class material so all content is completely current.

After the event, Peclers Paris shared my photography and social media content on their various social media channels.

CAFA: Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards 2018

April 21, 2018 ·

The Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA) hosted its fifth annual red-carpet Awards Gala at the Farimont Royal York in Toronto on April 20, 2018. The event was created to: recognize, promote and support outstanding achievement and emerging talent in the Canadian fashion industry.  It was a privilege to be part of this evening, to network and to celebrate with Canadian talent and fashion leaders including emerging designers, image makers, stylists, influencers, educators and students. Throughout the evening I shared highlights using live social media content, Instagram Story updates and communicated using comments and direct messages.  My students were engaged outside the classroom as current students and alumni gained virtual experience and visibility into this industry event.

Fashion Humber Trip: Hermès Festival des Métiers

October 4, 2013 ·

Despite the grey weather, Hermès’ colourful silk scarves captured our attention. Toronto’s Design Exchange hosted Hermès’ Festival Des Métiers where visitors saw a glimpse of the workmanship that goes into crafting many of the Maison’s luxury goods. The most captivating part of the exhibit for me was watching the craftsmen from the Hermès atelier in France, demonstrating the silk screening process used to colour the luxurious silk scarves. The close up look at the making of these iconic objects was fascinating and presented a true art form.

I organized a field trip for all Humber Fashion students across the Fashion Arts Diploma program, the Fashion Management Degree program and the Fashion Management and Promotions Postgraduate Certificate program to visit the exhibit. Students were formally introduced to the exhibit by staff in waves to accommodate the 200+ students in attendance.

Media Appearance: Global’s The Morning Show

April 26, 2012 ·

Fashion Arts professor Anne Cramer joins The Morning Show to talk about today’s beauty industry and the shift towards ‘natural’ beauty. Cramer teaches Fashion Arts at The Business School at Humber College, keeping her plugged in to trends and changes in the beauty industry. Why does society use makeup and cosmetics? How much makeup is too much? What celebrities have taken the plunge to ditch the made-up face? Anne Cramer explains.

-Global’s Morning Sement Pages

I worked with Andrew Leopold, Associate Director, Public Relations and Communications for Humber College to prepare for the interview. For this media appearance, we discussed different thoughts on the key discussion topics and also Humber’s corporate key messages to work into my delivery.

On the Wednesday morning show, the hosts removed their makeup on air, leading into our discussion the following day. During the interview, I spoke with the hosts about natural beauty and how our students view fashion and beauty standards. Our students learn computer graphic editing skills and are well aware of the retouching of photos that takes place in the industry – although the before and after comparison shots can still be surprising. Additionally, we talked about how Humber students look at marketing products and ethical guidelines to follow when representing products.

The experience at Global was exciting and it is always great to experience new things. Afterwards, I put together a short presentation to show my students some behind the scene photographs and to discuss the experience. Our discussions focused on media work, the ideals of beauty, and how great things can happen outside your comfort zone.

FEEDBACK:

Hi Anne

I watched you on Global this morning and you did a terrific job. You handled the questions with confidence and loved they way you slipped in information about our program at Humber. I was so impressed that you did not even pause for a second when answering their questions.

I appreciate the way you accepted this challenge without any hesitation and took the time to prep during this busy last week of class.

Thank you Anne, your appearance on Global reflected positively on the program, the Business School and on Humber.
