Humber’s Refresh: A Social Media Conference 2013

My Fashion Management Postgraduate students talk about the social media strategy employed by one of Canada’s leading fashion retailers with Patrick Dickinson Senior Vice President, Core Marketing & Brand Strategy, Hudson’s Bay Company

I’m looking forward to this event becoming an annual happening at Humber! Social media is always in a state of flux so hearing different ways it is being leveraged by the industry, always opens my eyes to new possibilities. The postgraduate students also had a lot of takeaways from the ‘thought leaders’ in social media marketing and management. The best practices in the industry and social media business skills were highlighted.

Walk It Out 2013: Midnight Empire Fashion Event & Launch of INFUSE Magazine

On a very rainy night in April, we celebrated the student fashion show along with the launch of the student magazine, INFUSE. I’m recognizing more and more the time and effort put in by the Program Coordinators and Professors, Pauline Ashworth, Antonietta Perretta, and Eugenia Lista-Zaharchuk to support the students in their achievements in these endeavours. This was also a special night as I was able to reconnect with many of my former students who will be graduating from Humber this spring.

Industry Spotlight: Zebra Studios’ Phil Falcone Class Visit

In the Winter 2013 semester I was able to co-organize with Professor Anna Zamparo a guest speaker for our Fashion Promotions and Social Media classes. Anna’s industry contact, Phil Falcone and his assistant Adrien, joined both of our classes to talk about his experience in Social Media and the advertising industry. We hosted the discussion in the Governor’s Boardroom. The members from Zebra Studios told stories to the students about their experience and also described lots of the great projects they have been involved in lately. Students enjoyed hearing about how the material we are learning in class is being applied to real industry situations. What made it even more meaningful to students was both Phil and Adrien are Humber Alumni!
